Hong Kong's $4B Family Office VMS Group Makes First Crypto Investment
JUN 23, 2025
VMS plans up to $10M allocation to DeFi hedge fund Re7 Capital as institutional crypto adoption accelerates.

VMS Group, a Hong Kong-based multifamily office managing nearly $4 billion in assets, is allocating up to $10 million to Re7 Capital — marking the firm's first move into cryptocurrency. The decision reflects a broader diversification push into more liquid investments as managing partner Elton Cheung cited challenging private equity exit conditions and a more favourable regulatory environment as key drivers.
Rather than investing directly in tokens, VMS selected Re7's market-neutral DeFi strategies, which generate yield through liquidity provision and stablecoin lending while hedging against volatility. Re7 founder Evgeny Gokhberg notes the approach is built for serious allocators seeking stable, repeatable returns rather than speculative upside — and the fund has delivered consistent double-digit yields since its 2021 inception.
VMS is also exploring crypto payments integration across its portfolio, including a majority-owned real estate development in Vietnam, as next-generation family office clients push for regulated digital asset exposure.
